A ranger station with picturesque surroundings in Iacobeni, owned by the local authority, can easily be suited for touristic purposes.
The two-story-building of the former weaving mill in Casinu Nou can also be suited for small-scale industrial purposes (fruit processing, forest fruit collecting centre, etc.) or even touristic purposes.
Plaiesi does not have the conditions yet for an extensive touristic activity. There is only a trespassing tourism and village tourism with a limited possibility of accommodation. The only given factor for health tourism are the god-given natural resources. The existing touristic apparatus is suitable only for the needs of local hunting- and tripper tourism.
Establishing a ranger station, rest-house and/or leisure centre
Establishing a ranger station, rest-house and/or leisure centre in the empty buildings could be a good opportunity for investors who can see big potential in economic development through tourism. Expending tourism would have a positive impact not only on the village and its population, but also on the investors and SMEs.
Plaiesi, the smallest basin of the East-Carpathians contains Casin, a village with the most extensive territory in the county. It has beautiful sights, rich flora and fauna, mineral waters coming from the mountains. The basin is open only to the south towards Targu Secuiesc; the Ciuc basin can be accessed through Piatra Nierges. Five villages belong to the commune: Plaiesii de Sus, Plaiesii de Jos, Imper, Iacobeni, Casinu Nou. The national road 11B passes through the region (through Casinu Nou). The rest of the villages can be accessed by the county road 121G. The population’s main source of income has always been livestock farming, agriculture, wood production and processing. Momentarily it has about 3000 inhabitants, and the institute of commonage works well, contributing to the economic development of the region. The natural characteristics of Plaiesi are its most attractive factors with mountains as high as 1100-1200 m surrounding it.
Establishments created for entertaining visitors are an important key towards economic development, just as food service units (such as restaurants, fas-foods, coffee shops) and the organization of local events, competitions, etc.
Concentrating on the touristic potentials of the region contributes not only to the protection of the existing natural resources and to a development based on them, but also to creating new jobs. The aim is to economically exploit these potentials as much as possible to the benefit of all the participants, to create new jobs and to prevent the young generation from emigration.
The mayor’s office of Plaiesi tries to help the population and the potential investors in reaching this common goal.
