The fame of Madicsa…
Baile Madicsa is famous for its springs of mineral water and for its spas. However, the old treatment centre is so strongly dilapidated that it cannot be used anymore. Obviously, the medical treatments have also halted. In spite of the attractive environment rich in natural resources (beautiful sights, forests, mountains, tourist tracks, etc.), the organization of events with touristic purposes is relatively rare.
The natural resources can only be additional elements to an establishment which contributes to the fame of the locality and beside which the additional services can line up.
Establishing a leisure centre…
Establishing a leisure centre could be a key element in developing tourism on a local level.
According to an existing pre-feasibility study, the bath (with a pool for adults and one for children) and a camping area would be two important elements of the leisure centre, just as the establishment of new accommodations and additional services. The capacity of the leisure centre would be of 244 visitors/day, not taking into account the capacity of the rest-house under reconstruction, the camping area, the bar and the covered stage.
Carta is located on the eastern part of Transylvania, in the Upper Ciuc basin enclosed by the mountain ranges of Ciuc and Harghita, at an approximately 720 m altitude. It lies along County road 125 (parallel with the European road E578) at a 23 km distance from Miercurea Ciuc to north, and 31 km distance from Gheorgheni to south. It can be accessed from the eastern part of Danesti coming from Miercurea Ciuc, making a turn at the railway gate.
There are no written documents on the foundation of the village but it can be dated back to the end of the 12th century - the beginning of the 13th century, based on the existing knowledge on the Szekely settlements in the Ciuc basin.
Madicsa is said to have been the name of a previously existing village which is first mentioned in 1868 as an important source of mineral water, good for both drinking and bath treatment. A considerable investment in the area took place in 1960, when a bath centre was established with a heating system and 10 bath tubs, and a mansion was built at the same time.
When approaching the locality on the recently renewed county road, one might wonder at the beautiful view of Hasmasu Mare and the mountain range of Harghita covered with forests.
Establishments created for entertaining visitors are an important key towards economic development, just as food service units and the organization of local events, competitions, etc. Expending tourism would have a positive impact not only on the village and its inhabitants, but also on the investors and SMEs.
The mayor’s office of Carta tries to help the population and the potential investors in reaching this common goal.
